WATERING GUIDE
Below are suggested timer settings, they are not set in stone but rather a suggestion. It is a good rule of thumb to adjust your water settings several times during any given season or when temperatures fluctuate. Your maintenance company should know to do this for you. Also included are a few website links you may find helpful for additional information to care for your plants. We hope you find the information helpful.
WATERING SCHEDULE
The following watering schedule is intended only as a guide for many common types of established landscape plant materials. Check periodically for plant stress and adjust your irrigation schedule as needed. It might be helpful to put a copy of this watering schedule in your controller box. Remember that the root systems of all plants including lawns need to absorb oxygen between watering.
**Newly planted...first 14days : Plants - Every Day for 30 min , Trees - Every Day 1hr**
INITIAL SPRING/SUMMER WATERING SCHEDULE
Trees – 1 ½ - 2 hrs. every 2 - 3 days
Plants – 30 min every day or 45 min every 2 days Cactus – Hand water only when needed
INITIAL FALL/WINTER WATERING SCHEDULE
Trees – 1 ½ - 2 hrs. every 4 - 7 days
Plants – 30 min every other day or 45 min every 3 days Cactus – Hand water only when needed
Signs of under-watering
Soil is dry
Leaves are wilted
Leaves are curled
Signs of over-watering
Soil is constantly damp
Leaves turn a lighter shade of green or turn yellow
Young shoots are wilted
Leaves are green yet brittle
Algae and mushrooms are growing
SEASONS
Plants can use 3-5 times as much water during the hot summer months as they do in the winter.
Adjust your watering schedule with the season and when there are significant changes in the weather.
Watch for freeze warnings in the winter months and cover your plants with frost cloth.
